MAAP stands for: Minnesota Association of Alternative Programs. MAAP’s mission is to lead, promote, and support innovative learning experiences for all Minnesota students.

MAAP STARS is a student organization started back in 1993 to recognize students who have chosen to fulfill their academic career in a different/alternative setting. STARS stands for: Success, Teamwork, Achievement, Recognition, and Self-esteem.

 Osprey Wilds Environmental Learning Center is an outdoor learning experience  where students have an opportunity to learn in a variety of experiential educational based settings, while also earning credit. Students will be introduced to topics such as biology, ecology, wildlife studies, history, natural resource conservation, and much more; all taught by graduate students and other professionals from around the country. 

White Bear Lake Area Learning Center Teacher Michele Norcross was named the 2024 White Bear Lake Area Educators Teacher of the Year at a May 7 celebration and recognition event.

The Language Arts teacher was chosen from an impressive slate of 6 finalists from throughout the district: Hannah Allen, Paige Kazak, Katie Solem, Michele Norcross, Ashley Peterson and Melissa Wickert.
